Meet Our Members – Kirsty Holland

Hello, I’m Kirsty, I’m 33 and live in Blackpool. I work for the Civil Service and my sporting interests are swimming, running and football. I have an older sister, an older brother and a twin brother.

My Sports and achievements

I have done a few challenges over the last 10 years, the first being climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for charity, I have completed 3 marathons and I also compete in a 24 hour relay race in Leeds. This is a 5 mile loop that starts at 12 noon Saturday and ends 12 noon Sunday,  I have done this 3 times now. The first and second was as a pair and the third as a trio but for this year I am doing it Solo raising funds for Alzheimers Research UK.

I run for Wesham Road Runners where we run road races but also off road on trails and fells which makes the runs more fun, more scenic and a lot more challenging

Future challenges

The 24 hour relay as a solo entrant is first which is in June.

I am also looking to do my first triathlon this year!

I have entered Manchester marathon for next year and also entered the London marathon ballot.

Triathlon Club

I have been a member of Wyre Tri Club for just over a year, joining when it was Rossall Tri Club, and I mainly attend the swim sessions on a Thursday which are fantastic. The community is brilliant, extremely inclusive, everyone is very friendly and the camaraderie is second to none. I am mainly the only female who attends every week so it would be great if you came down, met the group and had a swim to see what we’re all about

It would be brilliant if more females could get involved with all the sessions but especially the swims on a Thursday, please don’t let the late time put you off as it’s completely worth it as Dom the coach is amazing with everyone and adapting every lane to the right ability.

Lastly If you’re a female and would like to come along and try out the session but not sure, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me where I’m more than happy giving you some more information, answering your questions and greeting you at the Thursday swim session.
