Club Committee

Following the merger of Rossall and Poulton Triathlon Clubs and the AGM which took place in April 2023 we have a new committee for Wyre Triathlon Club.

The committee will be responsible for the day to day running of the club and will meet once a quarter at a committee meeting where management decisions for the club will take place. Committee member are appointed each year at the AGM and any registered member of the club is eligible for election into one of the officer roles.

In addition to the management committee, we at Wyre Triathlon Club, have sub committees for each discipline who help manage aspects of the individual sports, including training schedules and the various WhatsApp groups used for co-ordination.

Please meet our committee members below and learn a little about them.

Co-Chairs

At WyTri we have two chair persons. As the merger of Rossall and Poutlon saw the two clubs coming together it was decided that the chairs of each individual club would both become chairs, which enabled us to bring the best parts of each club together and ensure solid commitment around the structure and management of the club going forwards.

Both chairs share equal responsibility and act as the main club contacts and chairs for the committee meetings and annual general meetings that take place.

Chris Ayres

I’m Chris Ayres and I actually only started out on my triathlon journey in 2018, so am fairly new to the sport. I was always a keen cyclist before having done events like Lands End to John O’Groats but never really any of the other disciplines apart from a couple of 5k runs. Indeed, when I joined the club I couldn’t even swim 25 metres but I soon fell in love with the sport and with the club back when it was Rossall Triathlon club. Through the clubs support and motivation I soon learnt to become a confident swimmer and even started to run some distance races. This saw me complete my first sprint triathlon and half marathon in 2019. With that build in confidence I entered my first middle distance triathlon and first marathon for 2020, where I got in the ballot for London. I started to train hard for these events and alas, Covid hit and everything got shut down. I didn’t let that deter me though and keep my fitness up and once everything got rescheduled for 2021 I finally got to race both events.

I took over as chairman of Rossall Triathlon Club in 2022 as I loved the club and what it had helped me achieve. I really want to try and give some of that back for members of the community and having a hand in the running of the club means I can do that. After working closely with Paul we agreed on the principals of a merger of our two clubs and after a successful AGM in April 2023 we became Wyre Triathlon Club. I’m really excited about the future of the club and where we can now take it, as well as helping athletes take their first steps into triathlon and maybe build to their first Ironman like I am planning for 2024.
